Saw an article on Romero's body of work, so I thought I'd check a few out.
Bruiser was the first one I could find (I tried getting The Crazies first...yes, it's a Romero flick...but the video store didn't have it.).
Bruiser is the name of a magazine that loser Henry works at with his girlfriend. She's a complete bitch to him and is fucking the boss. Pretty much everyone shits on Henry until a day when he wakes up with a mask that won't come off his face.
Using his new identity, Henry begins to get even with those who have wronged him.
Knowing Romero, I'm sure there was symbolism to be found in Henry's plight and change, but I wasn't looking for it.
It's not a horrible flick, but it wasn't very memorable. I suppose it's ok to rent if you're curious about Romero's non-zombie work. I'd even go so far as to say that it's "re-makeable".
5 out of 10.
