Monsters vs. Aliens

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Took the kid to see this Saturday. This isn't your daddy's 3D movie.

First of all, the 3D glasses are now plastic and sturdy. The stupid cardboard ones that constantly slide around your head are gone.

Secondly, 3D has improved dramatically since the last time I've seen it, which was during the super bowl. You'd better get used to 3D too because all but one preview was a new 3D movie.

(Side note: One movie was called Battle for Terra and was all about how earthlings had no home left (I assume we destroyed it) and decided to invade another world and commit genocide upon its inhabitants. Two thoughts came to mind while watching this preview: 1. This is a bit heavy for kids. 2. Somebody has a pretty bitter view of humanity.)

Anyway, the film is cute for the kiddies. My 4 year old never left her seat. A few adult jokes slipped in as well, including what I assume to be an homage to Monty Python and the Holy Grail...think "She's got huge tracts of land!"

The story is about a girl who suffers a mishap on her wedding day. Soon she's captured by the government and put into their holding area for monsters. Aliens happen to invade the Earth around the same time and the government decides to use the monsters to fight back.

If you have a daughter, you should take her to see this film It's action packed, yet the girl is the hero.

Overall, it's a good flick, even if the story is a bit of "script by the numbers". Awesome 3D. See it.

7.5 out of 10.
