Ghost Rider

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I thought we already had a thread about this movie, but a search said no.

Anyway, I finally saw a new trailer for it yesterday that didn't make the movie look completely shitty.

So at least it has that going for it.

I bet if someone looked they could find the new trailer posted somewhere, and put the link here.

No matter what this flick is, it's still Nic fucking Cage.

I can't tell if you think this is a good or a bad think?

The last flick he did a truly good job in was "Leaving Las Vegas." Damn near all his shit since then has been bland.

I thought Shawshank Redemption was pretty good.

Not having Nicholas Cage in it certainly helped.

Cage's work:

My wife loves "Valley Girl".

"Fast Times at Ridgemont High" is a classic despite Sean Penn being the world's leading asshole.

Another classic comedy is "Raising Arizona".

"The Rock", "Face/Off", and "Con Air" were mindless fun.

"National Treasure" wasn't as fun or action packed as those three, but it wasn't bad.

"Leaving Las Vegas" was his good serious role.

"Wild at Heart" was damn good. If you've never seen it, get it.

The rest are all ass, particularly most of his recent stuff.

After Raising Arizona, anything Cage was in was an automatic +1 star.

After Captain (something's) Mandolin,Gone in 60 Seconds, and his marriage to a scientologist, every movie that has Cage is an automatic -1 star.

Sad, really.

his marriage to a scientologist

Who?

I know he married someone and she made him sell his comic collection (sold for 2.2 million), then was divorced like 4 months later.

That was her. Lisa Marie.

And my understanding was that she sold the collection while he was on location filming. Fucking cunt.

If, for one second, I could buy Nic Cage as an arms dealer that could outwit Ian Holm, that film might've'd a chance. The opening sequence was somewhat cool, though.

Back to the film, it sucked.

I read Ghost Rider growing up and wasn't the least bit excited to see this film after seeing the previews. My instincts were correct.

It was just a live action cartoon geared towards kids and young teens. It doesn't help matters that the dialogue and story were piss poor.

I read an interview where Nic Cage said he grew up a huge Ghost Rider fan and that this was his dream film. If true, there's no way he was proud of this shit.

Hey Hollywood, did you see Sin City and 300? Films based on comics can be dark and adult and still do great at the box office. Considering the whole theme of Ghost Rider is heaven vs. hell, you probably should've made this film a lot darker.

Ghost Rider did look cool though.

4 out of 10.

I saw this flick. Thought I'd made a contribution to this thread already. But anyway ...

Nic Cage just does a horrible fucking job. Period. The kid they got to portray the young Johnny Blaze did a better job than Nic. & the dude that played Blackheart was either miscast or the prick in charge of character development needs to be shot. He looked like a goddamned pussy. As one of my Irish coworkers at the pub at the time stated, "Blackheart should be a tank." Instead, he just looks like an angsty high school Goth, even when the special effects try to make him look bad-ass. The only redeeming thing was Peter Fonda's performance as the Devil, but even that's just relative to the hacks around him.

Edit : Alright, Sam Elliot was watchable, too, but it felt like they threw away his character at the end.

Agreed. I did not understand the whole "one ride left" bullshit.

And you're right, Blackheart looked like a huge pussy. Ditto for his fucktard friends who were all beaten with less effort than it takes to squeeze out a fart.
