like the PS3, which will costs hundreds more fully loaded than with a stripped down "core" version... which will still cost hundreds.

Isn't there already a platform that has proprietary hardware that plays games?

Granted, almost no games get written for it.
But still.
I want to buy the next gen platform gamer, but not if all it really is is a cheap PC in a small stylish case and a low resolution monitor.
These game consoles...
The Wii will be $200 (rumored) and have controllers shaped like remote controls that are motion senstive. If the Gamecube was any indication, there will be about 6 "must play" titles and that's about it. It will also get most of the big name games the other consoles get. Oh and they "online" is a fad.
The X-Box 360 is $400 and the games library is crap. Nothing big coming down the pike either except Halo 3 (The most overrated series of games EVER.). Sporatic support for original X-Box games. The majority of it's biggest titles will come out for PS3. The ones that also come out for PC will be FAR superior there. There still will be a few titles you might want the system for in the years to come. Oh and their titles are now $10 more expensive for some reason.
The PS3 is $600 and is basically a shitty PC. It'll have the most games, but most of them are crap. No word on game pricing.
Oh and remember, to play these games in the high detailed beautiful graphics that aren't up to current PC levels, you need a TV with HD. So that's another $1000-$4000 or so.
Yeah, those consoles sure are a good buy.
For $600 you can get more power in a PC with a monitor.
