I sold a house 6 years ago for 2.5 times what I paid for it in 1994, and the house I purchased 5.5 years ago is still being appraised for the price I bought it at, and after refinancing my 30-year mortgage to a 15, my monthly mortgage payments are less than where I started, and I only have 14 years to go.
So I am feeling a bit smug that I didn't buy an overvalued house, and I didn't get in over my head... even though I am feeling a bit of the sucker for not getting all that government assistance for peeps who made bad decisions.
