I keep hearing over and over how the FAA shutdown is "costing us a lot of money." Is it just me, or is that an outrageously disingenuous thing to say? The FAA shutdown is apparently saving us a lot of money in taxes not being sucked up by the government, and so far, no one has missed the FAA....

A partisan stalemate that has partially shut down the Federal Aviation Administration will continue into September, stopping airport construction projects and depriving federal coffers of potentially more than $1 billion in uncollected ticket taxes, after congressional attempts to reach deal fell through on Tuesday.

It's really just too bad that airports can't do their own construction projects without a government branch to be in charge.
