New Sports Forum
Hey look a new forum.
http://www.dtman.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=16
Everyone become aware of its existence, and make sure everyone can see it, and make sure permissions are correct, and things display in the proper order. As soon as everyone says, "Yeah looks good to me," I will move the sports threads into it because they are stinking up the General Stuff thread.

"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
I forgot that the Obama thread also gets a lot of attention here.
This is the busy time of year for Sports. It'll dry up after football season.
I do think the top four forums should probably be General, Internet Links, Movies, and Games. Tech Stuff and Music could follow them.
I still don't know why you don't play ArcheAge.

Mainly because it kind of sucks as a solo game and at this point I am so behind the curve that there's no point. I'd rather play LOL and Borderlands than grind for 50 hours to catch up.
That's not really true though.
One can achieve level 50 in a week or at least get into the 40s. Players you know in game can easily get you equipped with the best quest stuff by leading you through the critical ones.
Unless you plan on owning a farm or trading you can ignore a HUGE portion of the game, and labor points will mean nothing to you. It also means you need ZERO income.
So basically, you simply need to level up so that you can roll with us when we transport trade packs and/or go red hunting.
You don't even need to be lvl 50 to do that, although you'll want to be to hang in fights.
The biggest tip I can give you is death doesn't mean shit. Once you get past that. Once you realize that dying doesn't equate to a fucking thing, you'll have an edge over 75% of the other players. Now that isn't true if you're carrying a trade pack, but that's a more advanced lesson.
The one thing you haven't really done is asked for help and this game is a clusterfuck of hidden features, not telling you what to do, and things being the opposite of what you'd think.
For example: Your build doesn't mean shit. You can change it at will. So you don't have to worry about messing it up because you can shift it around later. In fact, different situations require different builds. Just level and you should be FLYING through levels until the mid 30s.
So end your self-imposed exile, stop playing Laugh Out Loud (which SUCKS as a solo game) and join your guild in the closest action we've had to UO since UO.

Aren't ALL games meaningless?
I mean, look at LoL. You respawn within 90 seconds and are right there in the battle again. Lose the war and enter a new game instantly.
But to answer your question, no.
Battles are handled differently and it depends on what you're doing.
Random PKing, Anti-PKing, and pirating has to do with trade packs. That's the equivalent of losing your gear back in the UO days. You're not actually losing your gear, but you are losing cash AND giving your opponent more cash. Also, deaths here spawn you a LONG way away from battles depending on where you're fighting. Also, you can get a massive bill for whatever vehicle you were using because we're going to blow it up.
Faction wars are handled differently. Death really does mean less there as you don't lose anything, but the rewards for a faction's victory are solid.
Also, they're increasing the cost of repairing your equipment to make death mean more, but I still think it's too low.

I'm still not and will never be cool with the game not having a penalty for death.
What penalties would you like? UO had the harshest penalties, but travel wasn't as forced and there were guard zones everywhere. It was a bit easier to avoid death if you wanted to.
In Rust you just lost what you carried, but no skills were affected and smarter players rarely lost anything they couldn't afford to lose. And honestly, death meant nothing there because the whole game was so broken that people had to use bugs to try and secure their items.
In LoL, you lost absolutely nothing except a few seconds playing. Ditto for ALL other MOBAs.
In BL and all other FPSs you lose some cash or nothing.
In RPGs you just load your saved game.
In ArcheAge, a standard death means shit aside from 2% damage to all of your equipment. A death in a PvP area means if you were carrying a trade pack you lose that money and give it to your enemy. Also, if you have a vehicle or ship, you're going to be paying a lot to fix it.
So what games are you playing with harsher death penalties?
Catt, what is Travian?

Or simply remove the sting.

Travian is a MMOG (MMORTSG?) that is strategy based. It's similar to the LoU game in that you build cities, raise armies, etc. Except all cities are attackable. I think you cannot technically lose your last city, but it can be damaged, resources raided, etc.Leisher wrote:Catt, what is Travian?
Travian
Travian's player community has been described as "refreshingly brutal" for its aggressive gameplay tactics.[38]
