This came up on my Steam queue tonight. First person mystery where you play a guy working a firewatch tower. Your only link to the outside world is someone you talk to on your radio.
Probably not for some as I assume the game play is going to be slower, but check out the first trailer for it (go to Steam and watch the first one)
Very well done trailer. It captured my interest and instantly went onto my wishlist. This might even be a day one purchase as I want to encourage this type of story telling.
Firewatch
That's a really good comparison.
Lifeline, despite its simplicity, was able to simulate a tension and bond with that character on Mars. My imagination was a factor as well obviously, but it was written in such a way that the character seemed real. She/he did real things and had real reactions.
This game comes off as real as well. The banter isn't garbage and the voice acting is superb.
This and Dead Island are probably the two best game trailers I've ever seen.

Wow, what an interesting looking game. I watched all the trailers and it leaves you wondering what direction the game will go in. I feel like it could turn into a zombie apocalypse game or something like that, but you have no idea.
I've never been one to care much for the plot or stories in games, but this one is all about the story. Totally different type of game than what is out there right now.

WORLD CHAMPIONS!!
Strong review.
Good. I was worried it'd be shit since I pre-ordered it.

My wife loves The Sims and Roller Coaster Tycoon. That's pretty much it. She hasn't played either in years. She's dabbled with some casual iOS games, but never got too serious about anything.
She saw the trailer for this and wanted to play it.
It's coming up on 2 1/2 hours later and she's still playing it.
IMHO, that's a pretty good recommendation.

Re: Firewatch
I started Firewatch today around 3:30 p.m. I was done around 8:15 p.m.
It's not so much a game as it is an interactive story. When someone says, "games aren't art", this will be my first example that they are indeed art. VERY much like Lifeline, and there's nothing wrong with that.
You're a man trying to escape and you take a job as a fire watcher in the Rockies. Once you show up on the job you are introduced to your boss, Delilah, who is also your only contact with the outside world. She is fantastic. The relationship between the two of you is the highlight of the game. She's your narrator and guides you along the story.
Going back to the game play, it's any first person shooter without the shooting.
This game is a story. It's a look at human nature. It's a suspense thriller.
I liked it, but your mileage may vary if you just want to kill stuff and not experience a story. Short play time though, so grab it cheap.
