Dan Stevens shows up at the home of a deceased military member and tells the family he served with him and promised to stop by after he got out to deliver messages of love.
The family is welcoming to a point, and soon he starts helping them with their problems. However, maybe not in the healthiest of ways. That's when the daughter looks a gift horse in the mouth and shit goes crazy.
The first half of the film is very watchable and interesting. I personally think the lead actor, Dan Stevens, does a great job despite telegraphing the creepiness. Shit goes downhill when Hollywood people need to think like military people, which never goes well.
Dan's motivations and actions get really, really stupid as the film goes on and even lead into a terrible, terrible Friday the 13th type of ending. I've heard the movie described as satire, but what's the message? Is it anti-action films? Anti-military contractors? Anti-bullying? Anti-society being anti that stuff?
Still, is it worth a viewing? I'll say since it's free on Netflix, yes. I really want someone else to watch it so we can discuss how stupid the guy's actions were.
Also just realized the dad is from Taken and happens to be married to a crush of mine from days long ago.
