Wet Hot American Summer - Yay Netflix!

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

This is the movie. Watched this because Netflix is screaming at me about watching the TV show they developed based on this property.

This movie features Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Christopher Meloni, Michael Ian Black, Joe Lo Truglio, Elizabeth Banks, H. John Benjamin (his voice...go figure), and Paul Rudd. Most of them were still nobodies when this film was made in 2001.

Anyway, I've seen it declared a satire of camp movies, and that might be true, but it's not well done. Without the big names, this movie is never brought back. The humor is sometimes very awkward and sometimes bad imitations of Naked Gun type of humor. I did laugh out loud at the end due to a hilariously brutal speech based in reality by the main girl. Other than that, I barely uttered a chuckle.

Still, I feel like I needed to watch it to see the TV show. I have higher hopes for it since these big names came back for it, but I'm betting on a bait and switch. Essentially, they use the big names for cameos and make the movie about lower cost actors.
