Doomsday Book - Yay Netflix!

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Japanese collection (subtitles) of three short films about the end of the world.

All seem to be films with messages, which usually equals crap. There is one exception here.

The first film is about a "zombie outbreak" with some elements of humor and love. It was meh. Not terribly done, and I admit some things might be lost in translation on me, but completely unremarkable.

The third film was just stupid. Little girl accidentally orders something from an alien website and it destroys all life on Earth. Very dull film.

The second film is where this movie intrigued me, but it really doesn't fit here, as it's not about the end of the world, nor is it a horror film. It is the best of the bunch, and it's one that will make you think. Basically, it's set in a Buddhist temple in the future, and a robot has reached enlightenment. That's awesome to the Buddhists, not so awesome to the corporation that made it. There is basically zero action in this film, it's a talker, so be aware of that going in or you'll be bored to tears. The dialogue is good stuff. It gets a bit jumbled, but it's still solid, and the acting in this short is top notch.

So if you have Netflix and 30 minutes to spare dig this film up and watch the second short.

Watched it.

You sure it wasn't South Korea? It seemed Korea-centric.

All in all, liked it. Also agree the second one was the best, but the one with the little girl making an order from space-Amazon was just absurd enough to be amusing. I especially liked the newscasters flipping out on-air. Zombie-apocalypse one was a little meh.

Yeah, I realized that mistake a day later when I was telling someone else about it. It is definitely Korean.

The news anchor scene in the third one was pretty funny.
