Iron Man 3 Spoiler Thread - *spoilers*

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

1. Did not like the 3k degree heat bad guys, just made me think, "What kind of reaction is creating that massive amount of heat, and what is the energy source?" Did not like their insta-regen limbs.... just made me think, "Where did the mass come from to regrow that arm in 3 seconds? Did their legs just get 3 inches shorter?"

2. Did not like that the 2 scenes that should have shocked me in the theater are the 2 things that were in the trailer: the house getting blown up, and the many suits showing up to the fight. Both of those things should have been shocking/awe inspiring, and both were spoiled.

3. Not sure how I feel about this movie as the end of a trilogy. The first one was an origin story, and dealt with Tony in his present, the bad guy being the guy running his business. The second one was Tony dealing with the past, a man who felt that Tony's dad screwed over his family and is coming for revenge. This one.... is dealing with Tony's past, again? I guess it is unique in that this time we are dealing with Tony's personal mistakes because he was an ass, and the movie goes so far as to spell that out. But still.

4. I liked IM2, but what I didn't like about it was Tony's moping around feeling sorry for himself because of his poisoned blood. IM3 was a lot more of Tony feeling sad/anxious about NYC/PTSD/whatever (the scene with the kid played that out well). I don't really want to see Tony Stark being all moody and menstrual, I want to see him flying to some muslim country and taking out some terrorists, I want to see him making some really new and awesome new tech, and I want to see him get called before a congressional subcomitee and make a bunch of politicians look really stupid. I don't know... I guess that was what I liked about the Avengers.... Tony and the others weren't dealing with their sad feelings (the scene with Loki's Anger Staff doesn't count), they were kicking ass and taking care of the threat at hand. There was even a deleted scene with Steve Rogers having some sad feelings about being a "man out of time..." wisely cut, in my opinion. No wants sad in their superhero movie. I don't, anyway.

5. Interesting how The Mandarin turned out, but I'd actually almost prefer him as an over-the-top James Bond-caliber villain instead of the sock puppet he ended up being. Was he a joke in the comics, as well?

6. Really didn't like the human heat bombs.

7. Although Pepper Potts was hot at the end when she was all DNA-mutated up. Literally and figuratively.

8. Oh, the Extremis Armor, or whatever Tony was calling it. Did not like. Just seems stupid. I heard in the comics they actually had armor that Tony kept inside his body and popped out when needed... at least they didn't go full retard with that.

Hell, no. He's a ninja wizard mad scientist that doesn't need food or water to live. He can also smash through the Iron Man suit with his bare hands.

Didn't mind the regeneration stuff, but hated the villains. Thought they were a stupid foil for Iron Man. Although, to the writer(s?) and director's credit, they made them work in the action scenes.

2. Did not like that the 2 scenes that should have shocked me in the theater are the 2 things that were in the trailer: the house getting blown up, and the many suits showing up to the fight. Both of those things should have been shocking/awe inspiring, and both were spoiled.

That's Hollywood.

I thought the ending was perfect, and overall, this made sense as a third film.

They can now walk away with a completed story.

OR

They can come back, and continue right where this one leaves off because Tony now has Extremis. In the books, that means he basically has a suit of armor under his skin. Ok, not a suit, but a protective...coating. In the books, Extremis was a huge upgrade to his abilities, and made him more of a super hero. He needs less physical interface with electronics.

4. I liked IM2, but what I didn't like about it was Tony's moping around feeling sorry for himself because of his poisoned blood. But that's Tony Stark, and his progression here is perfect for the character.

Tony was a massive alcoholic in the books. Even while he was Iron Man. He's also crazy paranoid about everything. That's why he does the same shit that Batman does, and lays out ways of killing his teammates should they go rogue.

In the books, he builds Hulkbuster armor, steals one of Thor's hairs to analyze him and build a clone, etc. He basically plans out ways to take down his friends should the need come up.

5. Interesting how The Mandarin turned out, but I'd actually almost prefer him as an over-the-top James Bond-caliber villain instead of the sock puppet he ended up being. Was he a joke in the comics, as well?

I both hated and loved this move.

I hated it because the Mandarin is Iron Man's greatest enemy.

I loved it because nobody saw this coming, and in the world of film where they're trying to keep superheroes somewhat grounded in reality, it makes more sense than a man with 10 powerful alien rings.

8. Oh, the Extremis Armor, or whatever Tony was calling it. Did not like. Just seems stupid. I heard in the comics they actually had armor that Tony kept inside his body and popped out when needed... at least they didn't go full retard with that.

It'll depend how they do it.

In the books, the suit under his skin is nothing more than...well, picture a gold body suit that covers everything but his face.

The armor still exists outside of him, but the body suit offers more protection than skin.

If the armor was just a molecular shell he could ooze out of his skin, that would be better than how i was picturing it.

That's essentially what is is, so yeah, don't picture the Mark 42 coming out of his nostrils.

Yeah, i thought that sounded retarded. No one splained it to me.

I think my problem is this: before Thor came out, i was wondering how they would follow the tone of the first IM movie and keep it grounded in realiy, instead of going full fantasy. I felt the movie did well suggesting Asgard was based on incredibly advanced tech, not magic (ignore Loki magic). IM3 feels like more of a fantasy movie than the one about the Nordic gods did.

Someone pointed out to me that the plot for this was almost exactly the plot for The Incredibles.
