Synopsis:
The chick from King Kong meets Aragorn, who's a mafioso from Eastern Europe. Directed by David Cronenberg.
Review:
There is little to no action in this movie up until the very end. Also, David's not exactly known for his riveting pacing. That means you're stuck watching Naomi Watts get hassled by the mob or Viggo hassling people for the mob. You won't see anyone transformed into a hybrid human-insect nor will anyone's head explode.
If you can sit through that, there's a quality script with a few players giving better than decent performances. The dude that plays the old racist KGB bureaucrat is hilarious.
Verdict:
Good film. Check it out.
Eastern Promises
I thought this one was crap. Ends very abruptly like A History of Violence did, but while that seemed kind of edgy the first time around it seemed just lazy in this one. Plus some of the most interesting hints at a cool plot line didn't get developed at all. I wasn't a fan of this one.
