Gerard Butler plays Sam Childers in this movie based on a true story.
Sam is a total piece of shit who hits rock bottom, finds God, turns his life around, goes to Africa, and becomes ridiculously over the top obsessed with helping the children there.
Sam comes off looking like both a saint and sinner here, even when he's doing good deeds.
It's a bit slow and has a longer run time, but I didn't hate that I saw it...mainly because it was a true story.
