It's the future and some virus has killed most of mankind. Everyone is afraid of catching the cold as they might be labeled as infected. That's made worse because the Earth is suffering a massive ice age thanks to global warming or some shit. Thus, everyone has to live in these underground colonies to stay warm and alive.
And yes, that's the logic they go with in the film. Cold = colds.
Lawrence Fishburne is a leader of one colony and Bill Paxton is his right hand man, but neither are the star. The star is Kevin Zegers!
Yeah, I have no clue who he is either.
Paxton's character is complete shit. Horrific writing. Based on his actions in the present and his motivations in the past, he's completely inconsistent.
So another colony calls for help and Lawrence's colony decides to help out...(I'll stop there for spoilers.)
It's a terrible movie. Just fucking terrible. I feel robbed and I saw it for free.
I'm pondering this movie and I realized how the weather fluctuated so quickly and randomly that Ed Wood could have directed this film. (Bonus points if you understand that reference.)
I'd give it a 3 out of 10.
Actually, I encourage Malcolm to see it. I want to hear the rant.
Spoilers below
So continuing the story, the main baddie from I Am Legend shows up with a pack of humans who have apparently learned to survive in the outdoors that kill everyone else despite being dressed for an autumn day in Central Park, not having any language skills, not having any heat sources anywhere, being unable to work weapons besides knives, and generally having the tactical skills of barbarians (run at your enemy). That's who can take on people with guns right? Of course!
Don't even get me started on their numbers, and their apparent lack of knowledge about doors. Push. Pull. So confusing!
There's also a whole subplot involving seeds that never gets touched upon. I'm thinking they were hoping for a sequel.
