Being mean to my wife

My wife has a video production business, so she has a high-end PC (she never got on the Mac bandwagon b/c she's also a miser) and 3 nice monitors.

I work at a cutting-edge software shop, so we're all using nice Macbooks and have Thunderbolt monitors on our standup desks.

We just had this conversation (slightly paraphrased):

Me: I'm getting a 4k monitor at work
Her: I hate you

Which monitor? I've got a 4k, but it's a crappy one.

I dunno, my boss said he could get me a 4k monitor so I said sure.

And it really is true. And I say it as a warning.... STOP BEING LIKE HER BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

You should find out.

If it's the Seiki one, it's very hard on the eyes for extended periods of time. I use it mostly for monitoring long-running jobs, clusters, etc.

Guess I won't be getting it. He sent this note today:
"Please verify your laptop is MacBook Pro Retina is Late 2013 or newer. If not, it will only drive the 4K monitor at 30 Hz and you will hate it."

Mine is Mid 2012 :\

Mine is Mid 2012 :\

I drive mine at 30Hz. The Hz aren't really an issue, since it's not video.

The quality of the Seiki just isn't that much. And the pixel pitch is a bit small at 39"
