Guardians of the Galaxy

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

It's a daddy-daughter date. My oldest really wants to see it, thankfully.

My wife is a lost cause. I'm considering divorce. Yeah, she's hot and smart and a good mom and all that unimportant stuff, but she doesn't put enough importance into nerd stuff the way she should!

Only reason I can see not wanting to go see this movie is if you don't like Chris Pratt.

How you can possibly not like Chris Pratt, I have no idea, but that'd be a reason.

According to this Guardians is hitting Netflix on November 18.... which is odd since the bluray goes on sale December 9? Do they not consider streaming it first to be a threat to BD sales?

BD and DVD sales are down. More people are going to streaming. Those that want to buy it on BD or DVD will do so anyway. I think they're actually hoping to double tap them for the streaming first and then get them on the physical meda again later.

I think the latest generation was tired of the VHS -> DVD -> Blu-Ray bullshit and was like, "Either free upgrades for life or digital, bitches."

I think BD is going to last longer than DVD did, even without considering the advent of streaming. BD covers the current generation of 1080P televisions, which DVD didn't. I think 4k TVs are going to need selling cheap before BD is obsolete. Color CRT TVs dominated... what... 50 years? I think we can count on 1080P TVs dominating at least another 10, longer if the Obama economy doesn't pick up and people don't have the disposable income to upgrade.

I think BD will last a long time because there's no interest in developing newer and better forms of physical media and that development cycle is dead. But there's going to be enough old people that prefer physical media around to sustain the life of BD for a few more decades.

Too much of this country is not yet served by streaming. Redbox is doing well for a reason.

Available to add to my queue. Nothing about streaming, though.

Ooooohhhhh.

I always forget there is not-streamed netflix.

edit - But the article says "streaming," so i dunno.

Second edit - taking a closer look, it is on iTunes today, not netflix.
