Thanks to Alanis Morrissette, I can't tell anymore. But anyway:

The United States is actually pretty good at getting students into higher-ed programs. But our completion rates are shockingly low. The United States has the highest dropout rate of any developed country for kids who start a higher-ed program. And that has a huge impact on their ability to build a career and earn a good living.

Guess who said that.

Well, given the URL you posted...

But, he's a pretty special case. I'm guessing for more average joes, college grad degree matter more.

The assumption is that everybody is college material, and if only everybody could just get a degree, they'd be so much better off.

Bill Gates is smart enough to know that's bullshit, so I wonder if he really believes it.

Well, if they're good enough to get INTO college, surely they are good enough to finish, and only life circumstances are preventing them.

Um, no. Not all colleges have strict entrance requirements.

Yes, there are a lot of people that have no business getting a four-year degree. Most of those would do well in a six-month to two-year technical program, though.

Oh. No, my mistake.

I hear that sort of thing said seriously all too often, sadly.
