"Years" to get a license. Why?
SB 12-251, the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act, which authorizes the issuance of state driver’s licenses to individuals who cannot demonstrate lawful presence in the United States or can only show temporary lawful presence beginning Aug. 1, 2014.

Gabriela Flora, a regional organizer for the American Friends Service Committee, called on the state to provide more locations where the licenses can be acquired.

“Having a system where people have to wait months or years to get a license doesn’t stand up to what the law is meant to do,”

Uh...

In all, a total of 823 appointments were scheduled, Serna told FoxNews.com, or 100 appointments an hour specifically related to SB 12-251, the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act, which authorizes the issuance of state driver’s licenses to individuals who cannot demonstrate lawful presence in the United States or can only show temporary lawful presence beginning Aug. 1, 2014.

Yeah, it really sucks that our law can't be enacted the way it was intended to help people who got here by breaking the law.

This is where I'll start hearing arguments about regulating immigration. When you don't have the infrastructure to do implement the crappy policies you waffle on every other opinion poll, it's time to stop.

Licenses issued under this program, state officials note, will have a banner stating that they're not for federal identification, voting or public benefit purposes.

That's an important point. Basically Colorado is mainly just putting together a list of names and addresses for INS.

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing.

It'd be hilarious if this was one massive sting.

This would be entrapment of the plainest measure. Hilarious, sure, but legally worthless.

I don't think entrapment applies to illegals.

Does it?

If so, why?

Entrapment case law doesn't care about the citizenship status of those being entrapped.

This isn't entrapment. Entrapment is when police do something to entice someone to do something illegal and then bust them for it. These people have already done something illegal and are not being enticed to do anything newly illegal.

It's like those stings they set up where they have some sort of convention for con artists then arrest everyone that shows up who has outstanding warrants. Yes, that used to be a thing that happened.

If fraudsters were ever caught using that method, it shouldn't be permissible to call them "artists."

I think they still do it with "Free Super-bowl Tickets" to catch people that had outstanding warrants.

And I don't think it's entrapment either.

Awesome. Got to keep those jails nice and overcrowded.

On a parallel note, I wonder how many illegals that get deported end up doing the same thing again.
