I just don't get it. Near as I can tell "they" are turning, "Don't let other people walk all over you" into "privilege."

My point was more like: white males are doing all the work. Women and minorities just complain about "privilege."

Privilege is how victims blame other people that aren't being as victimized for not being as victimized as they are. For example, "White Privilege" means you can drive your expensive car without being pulled over and harassed by shitty cops like minorities are, but rather than fix the system by getting rid of bad cops it's much easier to cry "White Privilege!"

I have also heard it as.... white people are privileged because they had all the chances in the world to go to school and improve themselves and succeed, while women and black people are just always shit upon and can never get ahead. So... there's really no argument, white people owe everybody else and should be ashamed and really should just shut the fuck up.

I have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to character in games. All the strong main characters in the games I've played in recent years are usually women. Commander Shephard was a strong female lead character. My badass character in Skyrim is a woman. The lead in Tomb Raider was a strong woman.

Those are the main character centered games I've played lately. I don't see a problem.

As to other gamers:

My gaming ability, attitude, feelings or capability will never be called into question based on unrelated natural biological functions.

Bull Shit. EVERYONE gets insulted and has their skills called into question in online gaming environments. Doesn't matter what is between your legs.

These assholes online will usually pick the simplest handle to tug on. If you are black they will tug on that. If you are a woman they will use that. Final fall-backs are that you must be some fat loser in your mother's basement. It's not about misogyny or racism, it's about being an asshole in any way they can, and if all they know about you is gender or race then that is what they will use.

Not that I'm saying such behavior is okay. By no means. But if people keep trying to approach it as if it is a gender issue or a racial issue, they'll never solve it because it just isn't.
