A few would me more than a couple, and less than a half dozen IMO.
I think most people would say "3" or "5" if they were talking about time or quantity of friends over or whatever, so I said 4.
Anything around 4 is a few.
I can get behind 3 to 5 in general, but it really also depends on what is being measured and the context under which the measurement is occurring. For example, I think "dinner will cost a few bucks" could be as much as $8 to $12 at current dollar values. However "your wife blew a few dudes" should be limited to no more than about five.
