Apparently, Turbine and DC Comics are working together on a DOTA-style game.
If Valve can't knock Riot off the mountain, I highly doubt Turbine and DC will be able to with a game where every single match is going to be infighting about who gets to be Batman.

Well, in DOTA style games, you typically only see one of each character in a game. (Two at the most...one on each team.)
Duping him would be pointless unless his abilities drastically changed. What would be more likely is different skins for his different incarnations.

No, I get what you're saying, but unless the abilities change dramatically, there's no point.
DOTA has 5 (or 3) guys per team, and each fits a different role.
For example, in LoL the typical team comp is an ADC (Attack Damage Carry), APC (Ability Power Carry), Support, Top (usually a bruising damage dealer), and a Jungler.
5 Batmen with the same kits would get rolled by a balanced team who could take advantage of the Batmen team's limited options.
That's why I think skins are FAR more likely. A skin allows the person who plays Batman (or any character) to pick one of numerous looks "Skins" for the game he's playing. So one game he could play as Dick Grayson's Batman, the next Adam West's, the next the Red Son Batman, etc. All would have the same kit, but each would have different graphics, sometimes even animations and voices.
So again, every game is going to reduce to see who gets to be Batman.
By the way, I think Batman is a jungler.

I can see having multiple different Batmans. Don't just have each skin be a different skin, but have a different loadout to the utility belt and different level of training, resulting in the different Batmen being able to fill different roles on the field. One Batman is best tuned for DPS, one for support, one for jungling, etc, with the utility belt and character story being the excuse for the differences. Then you can all have Batman but still fulfill different team roles.

Hey, this has nothing to do with my availability in League!
Looking at the champ roster they have two Batmen right now, Batman and Nightmare Batman. Both have different sets of abilities. Also there is a Joker and a Gaslight Joker.
And we all know that no game lasts forever. I'm sure someday LOL will be a thing of the past and something else will be the current hit.
Correction.. there are 3 Batmen, Gaslight is the third.

I miss UO a lot too, but none of the player run servers were the same.
And while I'm certain someday LoL will become a thing of the past, I don't think that day is going to be anytime soon.
I also don't think a MOBA based on DC characters is going to be the one to knock it off.

Problem is that my reflexes haven't gotten any faster over the years, and I have a harder time crushing the idiots.
