A French appeals court convicted a woman and her brother on Friday for “justifying a crime” after her toddler son, named Jihad, went to preschool in a T-shirt bearing the words “I am a bomb” and “Jihad: Born on Sept. 11,” a defence lawyer said.
Diogenes of Sinope: "It is not that I am mad, it is only that my head is different from yours."
Arnold Judas Rimmer, BSC, SSC: "Better dead than smeg."
Under French law, justifying a crime in public is punishable by up to five years in prison and a 45,000-euro fine.
Well, that's pretty damned undemocratic right there. Speaking against the ruling powers is the basis of all freedoms in a modern democracy, and those in power can make all sorts of stuff illegal and then it's automatically illegal for you to complain about them making it illegal because you are "justifying a crime."
This is basically the "shut up and don't protest" law.
