Movie: World War Z - In production.

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

You don't need to, but it's handy to have around as a barometre.

Someone is judging books by their cover.

The reason there's a saying against doing that is because normal instinct dictates that a book's cover is kind of important because it's usually the first thing readers and non-readers alike see. This is particularly true when we're talking about a literal book and not using it as a metaphor for a person. And yes, when your book's cover says it was authored by the same dude that brought you Dianetics, I feel justified in calling it batshit insane on that criterion alone.

That being said, I think Plato was batshit insane and I still read the Republic. But I still have respect for P, because while he was a loon, he did get a few things right. El Ron ... no so much.

In that case, I feel justified in saying that in my opinion, your opinion is wrong, as is your entire philosophy as to person X writing thing Y, then "Y" must be all that person can write.

And, ha ha, to prove me wrong, you need to read the book, since of all the people currently discussing the book, I am the only one who has read it.

Although i do recommend you purchasing the book used, or borrowing it from the library, since the Church of Scientology gets all profits from his books. Fuck those guys.

John Travolta thinks you're a dick.

Train wreck in progress.

When it came time to watch the director’s cut, Holson reports, the room was silent. “It was, like, Wow. The ending of our movie doesn’t work,” says Evans. “I believed in that moment we needed to reshoot the movie.” After 10 minutes of polite discussion, everyone left. “We were going to have long, significant discussions to fix this,” he recalls thinking.

I am shocked — shocked — to find that this movie might have been less than perfection!

I have an idea on how to make this a successful film, and avoid the script problems.

How about adapting the New York Times best selling book into the movie instead of just taking the name and writing your own story?

I know, I know, it's crazy. However, I think it's so crazy that it just might work.

While closing down the production in Malta, for instance, the wrap-up crew found a stack of purchase orders related to the cast and extras that had been casually tossed into a desk drawer and forgotten; the amount totaled in the millions of dollars.

Just forgotten about? Must be nice to work in an industry where you can do that to millions.

In her revealing report, Holson also speaks to director Marc Forster and Paramount executives Marc Evans and Adam Goodman about the many problems that plagued the set—which included re-writing and reshooting 40 minutes of the film to find a coherent ending...

As if one existed to find. This could very well kill the undead craze going in Hollywood.

I think it may destroy any cred Brad Pitt had in the industry beyond being a pretty face with visible abs. Sounds like he blew hundreds of millions of dollars of someone elses money on a book he really liked, but completely failed to understand.

He had none to begin with. With the notable exception of "Inglorious Basterds," he hasn't made anything good since "Snatch." That was a long, long, long fucking time ago. And Basterds was alright. Not Tarantino's best, but no "Jackie Brown."

What was the last flick he did that got any buzz? Moneyball. A movie about a baseball stat nerd book. It sucked harder than Tim Raines on a crackpipe. I like baseball. I like stats. I even know a bit of sabermetrics. Not sure how much more in the target demographic I need to be. The movie sucked, and it was evident from the previews. That's because trying to extract a story from a stat nerd book is stupid.

Damon Lindelof was brought in to fix the ending.

This is the guy who works with JJ Abrams a lot.

I like some of the work he's done, but the bit that got my attention in the article was right here:

As it turns out WWZ star Brad Pitt was a fan of Lindelof’s script for Prometheus and decided to reach out to him on WWZ.

Because the one thing everyone LOVED about Promethius was the story...

Does anyone think WWZ isn't going to be a colossal turd? Right now, I believe it has the potential to be a Godzilla (Matthew Broderick version) sized failure.

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player in history, however as an owner, he is one of the worst ever. The sports world is filled with examples of great players who couldn't manage or coach teams very well.

My point is that just because Pitt can act, doesn't mean he's a good filmmaker.

Review gives it a B-.

I've seen peeps on FB calling it the best zombie movie ever made.

I find this all fascinating considering how many last minute changes they were making to the film since "it didn't have an ending".

Sequel already on the way.
