If you want to see true insanity, check out the Indian adaptation of the old-timey Supes comics. Holy shit. He just flat out picks up a villain in one of them and drops him into an active volcano. This isn't Darkseid or some supernatural/cosmic entity bent on world domination, it was just a regular dude who robbed some people. Other characters have similar incongruities, like Robin machine gunning criminals during their fights.
