Russia says no to U.S. handouts
Article.
This seems to be more of a political move by Putin and his folks who think the U.S. must be influencing people.
It's going to be weird when Russia winds up backdooring a Cold War win thanks to this country's "progressives".

USAID's ordered departure comes amid a broader crackdown on Russian civil society groups after fraud-tainted parliamentary election last year prompted massive anti-government protests.
President Vladimir Putin blamed Washington for trying to destabilize Russia and accused Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for signaling the start of demonstrations.
I think they just want to kick out anyone that might talk shit about the civil suppression they're going to pull. This is the same gov't that, a month ago, decided three female punk musicians needed to sit in jail 3-5 years to think about the political dissent they spread. That's also after (as the article points out) some fraudulent-ass elections went down. According to exit poll numbers, it's either the most unanticipated landslide in Russian history or someone is lying.

This is all different from our current political environment, how?
Our president is telling Americans to stop using their freedom of speech, the MSM might as well be state run, a filmmaker was arrested/detained for a film that embarrassed the administration, Al Franken wins a fraudulent election and passes Obamacare, etc.

Not yet, but we're on our way.
Not saying that HAS to be the next stop, but weren't closer to that than what our forefathers intended.
You think Thomas Jefferson would see what's going on right now and NOT bitch slap Obama?

Our forefathers could barely agree on jackshit except that most of them hated being pushed around more than they hated each other. They remind me of people incarnated from Greek city-states.Leisher wrote:Not yet, but we're on our way.

If you asked Washington, Hamilton, Franklin, and Jefferson what their vision for the new republic would be, you'd probably get four distinct responses. And if you'd care to talk about the response of those folk and their ilk to present day politics, they'd bitchslap every president from .... Christ, I'd say the War of 1812 was when shit got out of hand and it's been going steadily downhill every since.

They may have disagreed, but they still got something done. Something that laid out specific rules that our current leaders completely ignore.
If at the end of the day they could only agree upon "small government and leave people alone unless they're fucking with other people" it would have been miles better than the current assholes.

Alexander Hamilton is one of the least "small government" people you'll find. He'd be all about, for instance, the economic bailouts that happened.Leisher wrote:If at the end of the day they could only agree upon "small government and leave people alone unless they're fucking with other people" it would have been miles better than the current assholes.

I don't think there is an honest person in DC.
7 out of 10 of the richest counties in America are around DC.
Gosh, I wonder how that could be, in a public servant's paygrade.

That may be true, but he didn't stand in the way of what was done back then.
Our forefathers get glorified a bit too much, yes. However, they still actually got things done, and they were done in the interest of the people.
You can't say that anymore. Maybe not for a long time.
And we're getting off point.
Point being, we're closer to socialism than we ever have been before, and we've got a major political party, our "royalty", and the MSM acting like socialism isn't a bad thing. We've also got half of the nation who live off the other half.
Things aren't great.

Both major political parties act like aristocrats, which is why certain political families are fucking dynasties. A majority of the current voting populous seems to approve, though.Leisher wrote:...we've got a major political party, our "royalty", and the MSM acting like socialism isn't a bad thing.
