Shit just began to get realer.

I wonder how many movies contain the phrase, "There's a storm coming."

"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
As good as Nolan's Batman movies have been, Bale's Batman voice is horrific.
Talking with a raspy voice doesn't make him seem badass. In fact, quite the opposite.

I just figured that he knew he had to really disguise his voice. Bruce Wayne isn't exactly a recluse, and people know what he sounds like.Leisher wrote:As good as Nolan's Batman movies have been, Bale's Batman voice is horrific.

Early reviews are positive.
Although, at a lesser rate than The Avengers. At 100 or so reviews, The Avengers was still around 94-96%, while The Dark Knight Rises is already down to the lower 80s.
I compare it to The Avengers because a few critics did the same thing in the article.
I'm thinking about taking a day soon and seeing this and Spider-Man.

So I am trying to decide whether this movie was an "Occupy!" person's wet dream, or their worst nightmare.
SPOILERS FOLLOW, I GUESS.
Obviously, the "rich" get dragged out of their homes, and pretty much are summarily executed. Is this what the Occupy! people actually want? I think it might be, for some of them. To borrow a line from another Batman, "Some people just want to watch the world burn." I felt like I had some arguments to support that, but my brain is not working right now.

"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
I remember reading some speculation about that, but they deny it. Besides, they started filming six months before - and wrapped soon after - Occupy started. The only way there could be a real connection is if they started Occupy themselves as some sort of advertisement.
"ATTENTION: Customers browsing porn must hold magazines with both hands at all times!"
The idea of the poor raising up and revolting isn't new, certainly I don't think Occupy or anyone else owns it.
It's what the Occupy people seem to say they want. Though, the ending certainly isn't what they would want. It would be a peaceful utopia with food, water, and puppets for everyone.

It's not me, it's someone else.
Funny thing is, all that food, water, and utopia puppets were being supplied from the outside. They couldn't produce it themselves.TheCatt wrote:It's what the Occupy people seem to say they want. Just like the people in the park had to rely on outside donations to have food and water.
It's not me, it's someone else.
Finally saw this last night. Still thinking about it. First impressions are ok. A decent movie, not the greatest Batman movie.

There are numerous minor plot issues I could toss out. There are a few major ones I simply couldn't forgive. The last 30 minutes of the movie didn't work for me at all. The character I saw in that movie that lived in the mansion and wore the suit, that was not Batman.
I reiterate: good movie, not a good Batman movie, especially the capper to a trilogy.

I agree with Malcolm, and others who have similar criticisms of the trilogy as a whole.
They were absolutely brilliant movies that featured Batman, but they weren't necessarily Batman movies.
I'm sure everyone has seen it by now, but just in case...Spoilers below...
Instead of taking an 8 year break between movies 2 and 3, they should have shown Batman worn down by fights with Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, and Joker. With his hurt leg, tired body, etc. he could have then faced Bane, and had his back broken like in the books. Then he could be sent to the prison to heal, train, and return to his city to take it back from Bane. Perhaps even do what they did in the books and send him to Ra's Al Ghul's Lazarus Pit.
Nolan putting the 8 year layoff in front of the Bane situation made Wayne's stay in the prison seem like he was only there a few days.
I also felt Bane was wasted a bit at the end in favor of Talia Al Ghul, who might be the most shoehorned character in movie history. (In the book, she fell in love with Bruce, fucked him, and they had a kid who is currently Robin.) Born and partially raised in a prison, dad is a super villain, just happens to become a scientist in the exact field needed for the bomb she steals, just happens to work her way up the exact company she needs to, and then fucks the guy she wants vengeance on because true vengeance can only come once you've sexually appeased your target...? Bane carried teh whole film until Talia showed up, and that's when his back story got stupid, and he became nothing more than a goon.
Again, too many ingredients can ruin a dish.
End Spoilers
Those complaints aside, these films were brilliant and told a nicely tied together story from the first film to the last. They just weren't a Batman story, so much as Batman happened to be in them.
