And still get food stamps...
"I am not going to sit and debate the ethics of this," Wilson said. "But from his standpoint, he did what he was supposed to do — he informed the state, and the state said he could keep using the card. The problem is with the state."

From The Detroit News: ]http://detnews.com/article....]

I disagree with that. Yes, the state is at fault, but so is Mr. Fick.

He's a grown ass man and he's very aware that he's taking advantage of a broken system. He should feel shame in collecting those stamps, or great pride in not having to live off the government's tit. Sadly, he feels neither, and he's yet another example of how a welfare state doesn't work.

I find it hard to detest him for messing with a fucked up system. I'd probably do the same thing if given the opportunity, just to screw with the government. But I'd also take double the amount I got from it out of the lottery winnings and give it to charity.

Then again I'd probably be giving more than that to charity anyway. For example if I ever do win the lottery, one of the things I'd love to do is smack Desert Bus with a $200,000 donation when they least expect it. That's my idea of fun.

The point is, though, screw the government. And do whatever you can to make them look stupid. Because they deserve it.

I get that thinking. I do.

However, I think it'd be easier to go to the press and announce that despite you winning the lottery, you're still eligible for food stamps. In one move, you've made yourself a hero, embarrassed the government, shed light on a broken system, and shamed the assholes who cheat the system.

Hell, you could probably earn more money making talk show appearances based on that then you would cheating the system for groceries.

The idea what "because you can do something, it's OK to do it" is wrong.

There is nothing about his action that is right. I can see how some people would rationalize it, and who knows - maybe I would too to fuck with the government once or twice, but it is still wrong.
It's not me, it's someone else.

I think he's a bit of a schmuck, but I find the government far more at fault for having such a broken and stupid system to begin with.

As to not stealing from the taxpayers, that's a moot point. They've already been stolen from. This guys actions doesn't change how much the government took from people.

I'd pull it once, just to make the point that I could to prove the system's fucked.
