The Big Bang Theory

This has been a solidly good show. But the ending to tonight's episode took it over the top. It's become a must-watch series in my opinion.

Don't worry about starting from the beginning on this one, it can be picked up mid-season this January. A quick read on wikipedia will give you all you need to know about backstory.

Mostly it's all about Jim Parsons (he plays Sheldon Cooper). Excellent actor IMO. But you'll also recognize Simon Helberg, who played Moist in Dr. Horrible.

Anyone ever watch this show?

It's about a group of >IQ180 physicists, their wacky hijinks, and the hot, stupid blond girl that moves in across the hall from them.

I see it sometimes as when it is the lead in for How I Met Your Mother and it makes me laugh from time to time. Never pissed that I watched it but I don't search it out either.

You can tell that it is written by people who have no idea about real geeks or that they are trying to fit what uninformed people think geeks by some of the sayings and interest. Kind of like the writer heard that pwnd was what geeks were saying and so they through it in the show.

Buddy's wife watches this sometimes. As does the roommate. Wasn't a fan.

If I want to watch nerds act awkwardly around women, I don't need TV.

Every episode, it's one of my favorites.

And the dumb blonde really isn't so dumb. Just not a physicist.

Oh, and as to authenticity, I do know people exactly like each of the characters. These aren't typical science geeks by any stretch, but they aren't unrealistic.

I just finished the season 1 DVD's... so far the blond is just going from one "wrong" pretty boy to the next, so yeah, she seems pretty dumb, to me.

Not that they are unrealistic because the tall skinny asshole nerd does a ton of OCD things that I do, more that stuff they talk about and things they say were part of the nerd world 2 years ago or the Halo parties. That is a really popular video game and nerds like games so these characters must play Halo. Not looking for in depth character analysis from a sitcom but the majority of the Halo community isn't "nerds".

I expect Keyboard Cat joke to make an appearance in about a season and a half. By then it will be known by enough people and my dad will be able to get the joke.

I noticed a lot of similarities between my personality and Sheldon's over that season.

It's also one of the few tv shows where everyone DOESN'T have an Apple computer in their apartment. These guys are always sitting around typing on the Dell XPS laptops.

I mostly recognized half the cast of Rosanne.

I purchased the first two seasons on DVD when they were $10 or something on Amazon months ago. Have yet to watch a single episode. Still working my way through Buffy 4 and Angel 1.

Is this becoming The Sheldon Show, or has it always been and I just never noticed? I seem to recall it used to be about all of them, but it seems that everything revolves around Sheldon, any more.

It's always been at least 3/4 Sheldon most of the time.
