The "steering the wrong way" description makes a lot of sense and would explain why the boat couldn't avoid the ice.

The corporate guy giving the orders to an apparently clueless captain seems right out of a movie script it's so cliche.

I do believe they are doing new computer skanning on the sight now. Which was interrupted do to recent storms. Think I saw it on the Today show. Said they were already getting new data. And maybe figure out the true sinking or confirm it. Interesting.
