I mean, that has to suck.

Seriously, try to wrap your brain around sitting in your car going nowhere for 9 days and not by choice.

I got the impression that the traffic does move, but it moves very very slowly. It's not taken nine days for one car to get through, it's just that for the last 216 hours there has been an ongoing jam.

It says it's expected to last to mid-September. Surely they don't mean the exact same cars will be sitting there until then.

Reminds me of the Dr Who episode where the traffic jam had lasted 20 years. People were being born in it.
