Stargate SG1
Got season 1 for xmas, never saw an episode before. Just watched the pilot.
1. Woohoo, hot chick full frontal nudity!
2. "We had to MacGuyver this thing together..."
3. Too bad the didn't get Kurt Russel to reprise his character.
Has anyone else here seen it?

Keep watching and you'll forget about Russel, RDA is so much better.
One of the best sci-fi series ever. Although it did run on a bit too long. Should have stopped around season five or six.
If you enjoy SG1, SG:Atlantis is worth watching, too. Note that it overlaps like Buffy and Angel did, and is best watched in tandem.

I had no idea it had started on Showtime.GORDON wrote:Got season 1 for xmas, never saw an episode before. Just watched the pilot.

Sounds like the creator didn't want nudity
Anderson's humor served him well during the show's first season, which even Wright and executive producer Robert Cooper, who came onboard as a writer, admit got off to a shaky start. There were rocky story lines, and there was cringe-worthy dialogue. And there was a creative argument with Showtime.
Wright still bristles at remembering how the channel wanted full-frontal nudity. "People said, 'It's Showtime sci-fi -- that's what fans want,'" he says. "We got lambasted by the critics for it. Here was this fun 'Star Wars'-like show with flashes of naked women."
It's not me, it's someone else.
I didn't know it was Showtime, either. I figured the nudity was blurred or cut or whatever for regular TV.
This gives me hope that there will be more hot chick full frontal nudity in season 1.
Seeing that chick stripped naked was like the best kind of surprise.

Urgh, I need to stop letting niggers steal money from my friends and I so I can buy these.GORDON wrote:The seasons are currently on sale on amazon for $15-$18 each. I just ordered 3, 4, and 5.
Season 2 had some great moments, and "1969" was prolly my fave episode of the season.
We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story
Season 3 was very good the entire way through... no stinkers, and quite a few great episodes.
And judging by the first 2 eps of season 4, the show got a huge increase to their special effects budget.
I also like how they don't forget people and things from episode to episode. Briefly appearing characters from one episode are still in the universe a season later. They discover a new, stronger mineral on some planet one episode, and by the next episode they have integrated that material into the equipment. Neat.

I wonder if S4 is when the show jumped to the new network. Hair styles are different, the opening credits no longer show scenes from previous episodes, and suddenly there is a recurring character who is a hot female showing a lot of cleavage and skin tight leather clothes.

During which season of SG1 does Atlantis start?
edit - never mind, wikipedia says Atlantis starts at SG1 season 8.

LOVED all the inside jokes... that I noticed. Especially the two clueless producers talking about how they needed to add a sexy female alien... like the one I mentioned in the quoted post.
Was neat watching them pretend to make a TV show while showing all of the stuff behind the scenes of the actual show.
