Timecrimes

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

This is an interesting film. An indy film from France starring people that look Italian with a story that is good, but has a massive flaw.

The film opens with a middle aged married couple going about their lives. Soon, the husband finds himself pursued through time by a psycho wearing pink bandages around his face.

There is truly an interesting story here, but I expect most people reading this review will have the same problem that I did, the logic behind it. In what shouldn't be too much of a spoiler, I'll say that my main problem is how he got into the situation in the first place.

Beyond that, the story is quite good. They take a much more serious look at the consequences of time travel than most previous films.

The acting is ok, nothing too outstanding. The special effects are also passable, and they avoided trying to really create some big effect for jumping through time, which I thought was wise.

Overall, this wasn't a bad film if you can overlook the single flaw in logic presented in the story. (And there might have been more, but I was locked in on the one. Nothing else screamed out "flaw".) I truly hope that they figure out a way to fix it in the remake being worked on in Hollywood. Anyway, this film is worth a rental and is even suitable for couples to watch. It has that type of story that'll spark a discussion. Although, be warned that the film sort of revolves around a young woman's bare chest, and it is quite nice. Your wife might not appreciate you enjoying that too much.

6 out of 10.

If they figure out a way around that one massive flaw in the story, the remake could be something special.

I have been thinking about this and I encourage someone else to see it just so I can discuss that flaw with someone.
