Jason Statham stars in this movie about a true event that occurred in the 70s.
A man, who it's pointed out is loved by the media and Hollywood types, pretends to be a civil rights leader for black people turns out to be a crime lord. He's involved in drugs, prostitution, etc. The problem is that the British government can't crack down on him due to some dirt he has on a member of the royal family. Thus, MI5 or 6 decides to unofficially sponsor a bank heist where they believe this man keeps the dirt.
Jason leads a crew tasked to pull off the job.
The writing and direction is slick here as they're able to tell a true story without losing the style we'd except fro a Jason Statham movie.
I don't know enough about the actual event to determine the truthfulness of the film, but I'm certain they played with the characters a bit. The protagonists are portrayed as being very likable outside of them being criminals, while the big criminals come off as truly evil.
Great acting by everyone involved.
Definitely worth a rental.
