Evil Dead Remake

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Raimi will produce.
Bruce will star.

Coinidently, I was going through my files last night, looking for some geneology stuff, and I found my membership package for the official Bruce Campbell fan club. It had an autographed 8x10", an autographed membership certificate (I was member #79), issue #1 of the newsletter (I had something printed in issue #2 btw), and some other misc papers with bios and such.

Wait... you mean a sequel, right? Those guys already remade Evil Dead, once. It was called Evil Dead II.

No, he means yet another remake, but that's ok.

Remember, ED and ED2 are cult hits. Maybe this remake will get the series more mainstream attention and thus, more sequels.

I like ED2 better than the original. Hopefullly the next remake will be even better.

ED4 has been a rumor since Army of Darkness.

Leisher made me think there'd finally be a 4. He got my hopes up, so now he's made his way onto my list. I had better be appeased soon.

Did I ever mention that I'm on-camera on the 2002 DVD rerelease of The Evil Dead? A whole 119 frames.

Where? I assume in a DVD extra?
Somewhere there's 4 seconds of you in the background?

I don't think I was ever in a movie. :(

If you search the web you can find a script for Evil Dead 4. I remember seeing one somewhere. Maybe it was on a site called "Drew's scripts" or something like that.

It picks up from Army of Darkness, but pretends he never got back to the present. Instead as he's lying down and trying to remember how many drops and how to say the name, he screws up and wakes up in the future. Unfortunately, the future is overrun with deadites.

An extra indeed. I'm in the Fanalysis featurette. The whole thing was filmed at A-kon in 1999, at which I met (and talked with for several minutes while I was working security) Bruce Campbell. I didn't think I was ever in front of the camera, but apparently I was. They do a shot up the line of people waiting for Bruce's autograph, and I was up at the front of that line hanging out with friends (I myself had nothing to be signed) and as the camera goes past I'm actually close-up center-of-the-shot for about four or five frames. :)

Hey, it may not sound like much, but I thought it was cool.

There's more detail (and a blurry frame grab) here.

Oh, and no, I don't have those boxers anymore. In case you were curious.

Actually, that was the original ending they were planning on. They even filmed it. I don't know if it's on any of the DVDs, but I saw it on a bootleg VHS from Canada back before DVDs were popular.

Now that I think about it, that ending is on the special edition of Army of Darkness I own.

I remember hating it because the S-Mart scene was so good.

Yeah, that scene is on one of the Army of Darkness DVDs. I'm not sure which version I have, but it has that scene, and several other deleted scenes, along with commentary.

It's the original ending to Army of Darkness. I think it's on one of my DVD's. Raimi dropped that ending for the S-Mart scene because he didn't want to mislead the fans that there'd be a part 4.

The original ending is something like this:
Ash needs to take six drops, so he counts them out as he takes them, "One... two... three... four..."
Then Ash second guesses himself, "Do I really want to do this?"
Ash decides it's woth the risk and takes the rest of the drops, "three... four... five.. six."

Ash wakes up in a post-apocolyptic London cave. London is destroyed, and Ash has a huge beard. Then Ash yells at humanity (a'la Planet of the Apes) and the movie is over.

Either the deadites destroyed humanity, or we destroyed ourselves. The ending isn't specific about that.

I've probably bought 4 different copies of Army of Darkness and the boxed tin of Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. Another remake is sure to bankrupt me but I don't mind :)
