Mulberry St.

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

One of the "8 Movies to Die For" series from Horrorfest. (Not sure which year, I'm guessing this is the new batch.)

This is an indy, so I'll cut it a bit more slack.

Mulberry St. is about how a small group of folks content with an outbreak similar to a zombie plague. This plague is different in that its more about lycanthropy. Put simply, people turn into rats when bitten. Not small rats, but humans with rat noses. (It's not as bad as it sounds.)

Most of the movie flows pretty. It's interesting in that it feels like you're only watching the outbreak portion of any zombie movie. All the focus is on a few characters and their efforts to survive.

The story really isn't that bad and there's actually decent characterization. Also, The acting is generally better than most indy films.

This is actually not a terrible film. Don't get me wrong, this won't be something you'll run out and buy, but if you're a horror fan, it's worth a rental.

6 out of 10.

Most of them Horrorfest films suck. Maybe it's cos I catch the network edits on Sci-Fi all the time, but it's just ass 9 outta 10 times.

The first time these hit I got a couple (and reviewed them here) and they were ass. They shouldn't advertise them as "Too shocking for general audiences". Shit like that usually backfires.

Still, of the new crop, the first two I got weren't terrible. Of course, I like indies and will scale back my expectations a bit for them as I know they're on a limited budget and using no name "actors".

This was rather average. That makes it damn near gold considering the entries in the "8 Films to Die For" fests. It's every zombie flick I've ever seen, except they're rats. Makes them speedy at the cost of being vulnerable. Intriguing.
