No they don't, but he was asked to weigh in, and he did. The point wasn't to make something stick, the point was to get a starting point where Congress can build, which is exactly what the article discussed.
Don't be so defeated. To contrast you, right after the game last night, a TTUN fan texted me asking what the odds were that May would be at UNC next year.TheCatt wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 4:16 pm Feels like UNC is going to strike out on all top 3 candidates. UNC should back up the Brinks truck to May's house. Hell, I wish OSU would...

By what fucking retard? At any rate, his EO is illegal and dumb. He didn't "weigh in" he wrote an unenforceable piece of shit.

Unenforceable? Absolutely.
Dumb? What part do you disagree with?

This is totally off topic, but Gemini is widely regarded as the most biased AI. It is very, very woke. Google has had to fix several answers to not be racist, sexist, politically motivated, etc. I'm also pretty sure it's the most inaccurate (I know I've posted things from it here on more than one occasion that you've proven wrong). I think in the AI thread there's an article about Grok being the most accurate, and I think Claude is second?TheCatt wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 8:29 pm X - Doubt. Google says this isn't true (well, no supporting data).
Back to the topic at hand, pretty sure the articles I've posted about it detail how it all came about, who attended, how the NCAA and commissioners were happy with his EO, etc.
But I think we're done with that discussion. You have unconditional hatred for Trump, so I'm not wasting my time anymore. I'd have more success getting you to root for Duke.
This is a discussion for elsewhere, but the problem with our society and why it's crumbling before our eyes is because we have taken Capitalism to the extreme of "no limits". Like children testing their parents, there's absolutely a portion of the business world pushing the "no limits" thing as far as they can.
There MUST be some limits or you break the system. If the system is broken, everyone loses.
My thoughts:
-I absolutely agree with a single window for transferring, and it should be in the spring. That's after the season/playoffs.
-I would create a tampering rule that harshly punishes programs that reach out to players not in the transfer portal. This prevents a free for all, and allows players who don't want to enter the portal from getting harassed.
-The 5 yr limit doesn't work due to injuries. It does work for full years played and a redshirt season. If a player misses a season due to injury, it shouldn't count against them.
-All sports are different and should be treated as such. The men's volleyball team shouldn't expect million dollar contracts. There is still a cast physical difference between a high school football player and a professional.
-Players should fully own their name, image, and likeness.
-I'm fine with setting a limit on transfers (maybe), but again, huge caveats. Exceptions should be made for graduates, players who aren't getting starting time (and I'd add a rule that the team that lures them MUST give them the promised playing time or face penalties), if a coach leaves, etc. Point being 1 transfer could be the baseline, but there should be rules allowing additional ones. OR if you allow for unlimited transfers, then schools will just lock players down in contracts.
-The creation of an official database for player agents is not just a good idea, it's absolutely necessary. That is all about protecting the players. (This was in the EO.)
I don't know, we could talk about this stuff forever. I think ultimately, schools are going to start drafting up really tight contracts with a "take it or leave it" attitude. The biggest schools will have all the power because they have the TV deals and fanbases. That's where Congress needs to put in protections for the players. There should be a happy medium that allows for competition between the schools (no matter how big or small), which is good for players, but doesn't destroy the sport.
What'd I miss?Nailed it

The only article that would show Grok as being the most "accurate" would be from Elon Musk.

Sure, limits enforced by mutually agreed-upon contracts. The end.Leisher wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:32 am There MUST be some limits or you break the system. If the system is broken, everyone loses.
One transfer window, sure. Tampering rules? Yes, please. Limits on transfers (other than, like one per year)? No. Players should own their NIL. Or be able to license it, etc. Although, coaches can leave whenever the hell they want, why not players?

It's going to be far more in depth than that or we can tell 90% of schools to not even bother having football programs.TheCatt wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 11:46 am Sure, limits enforced by mutually agreed-upon contracts. The end.
Like I said, we could discuss this endlessly. They have to figure out how to not fuck over the players and the schools.
He could be 100% serious about staying. He could be 100% certain he wants to leave. He's not answering that question in any way, TODAY, except for full denial.

Re: NCAA
Honestly, good question. Some people just gotta keep going.
There's no shortage of people who would play for free. And there's only so much money to go around. But we may end up with about 25-40 teams that actually matter... which... doesn't feel radically different than before?Leisher wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 12:14 pm we can tell 90% of schools to not even bother having football programs.

Re: NCAA
And that's where...hmmm...not limits, but rails to keep them from destroying society would be wise. That constantly needing to keep moving forward is critical to the evolution of humanity. I just think it'd be wise to keep them from blotting out the sun, no matter how much sense it made.
I would!
For players, it would be a huge difference. Remember, the majority of these athletes are there for the actual learning part. It's an extremely small percentage who are there to try and make the NFL. Let me rephrase that: The majority have no real chance of ever making it to or in the NFL.TheCatt wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 2:05 pm And there's only so much money to go around. The fewer teams, the fewer opportunities for actual student athletes. Not to mention the domino effect it would have on other sports. If their school's football money dries up, it means other sports and scholarships are getting cancelled.

That is true, it has lessened the coffers of the schools. Which I'm mostly fine with. His youngest daughter (6'1", not ugly) plays volleyball at UNC. He was on a UNC podcast end of last year.
He said a lot of nice things, and seems well-respected. Just hoping he can recruit or find people who can. I'm more optimistic than I was 3 hours ago.

Good.
You should hope Nikola Jokic has eligibility left.
