Saw this on Twitter today (couldn't grab it without grabbing the whole dumb thread):
A recent study showed that 1 out of 3 people in a relationship are cheating. Now I just gotta figure out if it's my girlfriend or my wife.

Wow. Hilarious. And I hope she's a good sport because that was brutal.

Hmm, he might be onto something. Maybe we've peaked with fashion?

I wonder if it has something to do with the idea that we no longer have common experiences, as a country.

Thirty years ago the country, mainly, had 4 TV networks, and we were all watching the same things and talking about them the next day at work, in person, with actual live people. We'd see the fashions they were wearing on TV and have our ideas subtly changed by it. As a nation.

Now we've all got our own podcasts, our own YT videos, our favorite bands with 538 likes on the FB posts. There's no more common experience. So there's no more "86 million males now have a moustache like Magnum PI" phenomenon, any more. So we stagnate, culturally.

Social media destroys civilization. Eventually y'all will want to change your votes in that other thread and I'll say "always nice when people catch up to me a decade later."

Happy new year.

People's ignorance destroys civilization. Social media just amplifies it.

People's ignorance used to be manageable. Now, it is not.

Really if you think about it the printing press was the first mistake.

Disagree. That's the same logic as "guns kills people".

Honestly, two things started the downfall of civilization:
1. Allowing people to benefit from society without contributing, and worse, paying them to do so.
2. Giving people a say in government who are not vested in its success.

Social media or any tool that spreads information is not, in and of itself, the cause of anything negative. It simply allows the stupidity we've allowed to grow elsewhere to amplify its voice.

Really if you think about it allowing women to learn to read was the first mistake.

Heinlein was right.

I don't know what movie or show this is, but props to them because I laughed. It's a comedy, right?

The thing that drives me nuts about this type of bullshit is that she couldn't just do 5 or so. Nope, they had to make her approach or even break the record.

They always have to Mary Sue these female protagonists.

On Star Trek: Discovery they were all kinds of enlightened because they had a fat girl on the bridge.

Guess who won the ship's half-marathon.

I hate Star Trek: Discovery and I am in the majority and we're all glad it has been cancelled and taken out of canon.
