It's not just that zombie-infected London is a metaphor for Baghdad. That could be interesting enough. No, it's the fact that the US military's crude response to all this is "kill everybody" (the living and the dead), area firebombing, etc.
Plus, of course, the US military isn't in this ravaged foreign city to actually help. They're there to steal their oil zombie plague for development as a bioweapon, and in fact they cause the new outbreak deliberately by setting a zombie US soldier on... a pair of twelve year old girls.
Vets should start filing lawsuits for defamation.
Though it wouldn't go anywhere, and just provide free advertising for the movie.
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
Full spoiler here.
I read it.
The movie starts off with a woman named Alice fleeing the zombies. Wonder if she looks like Milla Jovovich?

28 Weeks Later the review...
Warning: There are spoilers in this review.
28 Weeks Later or as I like to call it "28 Days Later 4: The Revenge" sees life return to Great Britain 28 weeks after all the violence started. All the...monsters (they are NOT zombies) are dead from starvation and life is returning to normal thanks to the U.S. military (Apparently the UN doesn't care if a member nation is over run by violent monsters. At least they're consistent with their apathy.).
Later the "virus" returns and things go to shit rather quickly.
Ok, sounds kind of good right? Fast, strong zombie-like monsters, centralized human victims, military firepower, etc.
Well sorry, but this is a steaming turd of a movie. Actually, the best part of the film is that it shines a glaring fucking spotlight on the fact that when it comes to anything remotely military, people in Hollywood don't know their asses from their elbows.
Although, to their credit, there wasn't shit in here that was an "anti-Iraq" message. This movie was actually much kinder to the military than 28 Days Later.
Here are some glaring examples of Hollywood military strategy and tactics:
-In the event of a virus outbreak, quarantine everyone into a giant confined space. Do not guard the doors or keep tabs on the civilians.
-A U.S. military force to protect over 15,000 civilians from bloodthirsty, lightning quick, super strong, violent zombie-like monsters should be about 2 dozen strong. Half of that number should be snipers.
-Do NOT put gates or guards up to keep civilians from going into demilitarized zones where those monsters or the virus could very well be lurking. Not to mention just to keep them from looting or squatting, etc.
-No military aircraft needs to report its position. In fact, just fly around whereever you want, including into the airspace of other countries without letting them know. That sort of thing is encouraged.
-Have no contingency plan whatsoever for anything.
-Do not have a plan for wiping out an outbreak that could send man into extinction.
-Etc.
The sad part is that the military actually come off as the smartest and bravest people in the film, by far. They are obviously underfunded, under equipped, under staffed and yet they're responsible for the safety of a ridiculous amount of people in territory that is WAAAAAAAYYYYYY too soon to be populated again since our scientists would have no idea if the threat is over or not.
Taking a look at the film as a whole though, there's no point to it. They actually set up a sequel in the opening scene, which might be a record. Ditto for later on, but anyone with half-a-clue knew that would happen. I mean who doesn't see "28 Years Later" as a very real possibility? Anyway, there just isn't a story here worth telling. There is no rhyme nor reason to any of it. The characters are all shallow, their motivations are weak at bet, there are unresolved plot threads, etc. It's just a big mess.
An absolute disgrace of a film. So far, 2 "28 ____ Later" films have been made and they're created half of a good film. Great work.

Best zombie premise ev4r. Fuck disease, fuck radiation, fuck black magic.

I didn't read this until after I just watched the movie, but I was thinking about all this while watching the movie.Leisher wrote:Here are some glaring examples of Hollywood military strategy and tactics:

As far as how the military was portrayed, I mentioned earlier that the scuttlebutt was that the US military were the bad guys. Sorta, kinda half true. I thought the General was correct in ordering the general, "Kill everything" order during the mass breakout, but geez, in the mop-up operations it should have been easy to tell who the infected were. For example, the infected can't drive cars, so why shoot at a car driving down the road trying to get to safety? Silly "Don't think, just follow orders and kill everything" is a little unrealistic, to me. Not even the "brainwashed" Marines are expected to be that automatic.
I also agree with the basic premise being pretty damned stupid... why reopen the country for business so quickly, when the opening conversation with the military medical specialist is "We really don't know that much about this virus, so maybe kids shouldn't be here?" And really, it was the kids being kids that caused the new problem, anyway, when they went out in the unsecured zone and found...
Also, whose fault was it at the end when they got in the helo, and we observed the after effects?
I think the moral of the story is "kids suck and will get us all killed."

Interesting.
Remember the first film? College kids released the virus from a lab starting the whole thing.
Actually, as much as the creators of these films obviously do not like the military and have NO idea how the military works, I do find it funny that the whole series' trouble started because of ignorant animal rights activists.

I didn't like how the dude kept popping up everywhere. They couldn't afford to put make-up on more people? Way to soon to move back in. Woman with the earth ending virus isn't guarded by more than a locked door that non-military people have keys to? I do like that France is the next to go down though.

Exactly why I called it "28 Days Later 4: The Revenge".
Remember Jaws 4: The Revenge and how the shark followed the family from Maine to the Caribbean then knew the exact moments they were in the water and only attacked them?
Same shit.

One thing I don't get about the "zombies" in this franchise: why don't they attack each other? It's portrayed as something called a "rage virus" that causes the infected to go psycho on everyone, right? There's no intelligence left here, just psychotic rage-filled killing. There's no reason I can think of for them not to tear each other to shreds as well.
'Course the same could be said of the Reavers in Firefly for that matter.
