First episode was outstanding, and the kid and I are excited to watch the next one.

Started very strong with a single premise... and at the end I have about 7 major, open ended, unanswered questions. I'd say almost no plot threads got completed.

This makes sense.Mostly ageed, and 100% with the fundamental point that this is religious fantasy not sci-fi.
12 embryos is because 12 apostles. Mother is Eve, and virgin-birth Mary, and is also an inverse Jesus (first teacher of atheism, crucifix pose, magic blood, Jesus raised the dead - a necromancer).
