I don't know.

I was mistaken on the diabetes doctor, it is next Monday, not tomorrow.

And I didn't have time to find another shrink today. We really need to get her declared retarded so we can lock her up for a while.

More refs for G:

Mayo on long term effects of hyperglycemia in type II diabetics.

Study that shows what happens when 60-year old type II diabetics acutely spike their blood sugar to around 300 mg/dL.
The present study demonstrated that acute hyperglycemia in people with type 2 diabetes significantly impaired speed of information processing, working memory, and some aspects of attention. It also had a profound detrimental effect on key mood states.
...
The findings of the present study are in concordance with anecdotal reports from people with type 2 diabetes and are supported by the results of two recent studies. Cox et al. (30) have demonstrated changes in mood and impairment in cognitive function during acute hyperglycemia in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and a study (31) in Canada has shown impairment of cognitive function in people with type 2 diabetes following oral ingestion of 50 g of carbohydrate. Taken together, these findings are of practical importance to people with type 2 diabetes in whom exposure to moderate and intermittent hyperglycemia is common. Working memory and processing speed are fundamental aspects of cognition in everyday life. The deleterious effects of hyperglycemia on cognitive function and mood states may significantly interfere with many activities of daily living and may influence therapeutic strategies aimed at treating postprandial hyperglycemia.
In brief: too much glucose makes you noticeably slower, stupider, and bitchier. QED.

Another big fight tonight between wife and MIL regarding her 250 blood sugar and the fact she walked to my mom's restaurant today and got the peach cobbler. Lots of "I'd rather be dead than never have ice cream/I will just move out then/I might as well just kill myself."

But tacos were in the menu tonight, and she won't eat them, so we told her to make her own dinner. Sucks to be a picky eater.

She made chocolatd.chip pancakes.

We've already called the "I'll just move out" bluff. None of her siblings want her. She has literally nowhere to go. It doesn't stop her from "threatening" to move out.

Goddamn, man. Morphine hotshot, seriously. It's way more humane, and I'm not joking. She's not in her right mind. Find that shrink, get the paper signed.

The next thing I tell her is going to be that if she has a stroke that doesn't kill her, or has limbs amputated, she suddenly becomes A LOT easier for me to take care of, and I will do everything I can to prolong her miserable life as long as possible, and I will never, ever serve her any food that she likes. She can either cut the sugar now, or be forced to cut the sugar when her life is a living hell.

Show her what those guys do in Preacher to keep that archangel from spawning.

Thought occurs: does your wife give a shit if her mom lives or dies?

I can confirm that she wasn't a pleasant person prior to moving into Gordon's house.

Gordo, you may want to reconsider this atheism thing. You could be earning bonus points here.

The beauty of it is that even if there is a kind and merciful God, I'm already getting points. Just because I don't follow any dogma is no reason to cast me into Hell.

Right?

But wife hated her long before she moved in.
So you moved in someone both of you hated and neither were willing to take care of ... and that someone is now slowly poisoning herself to death with your blessing? None of this sounds like a good idea from the practical or divine view.

A year ago I still had compassion and empathy, and took care of her in spite of not caring much for her.

That brings us to today.

Well, turns out those things were finite, which brings us to today. Got a new plan?

I can't control her. As long as she can wipe her own ass and can function on autopilot, I'll keep putting out her pills for her, paying her bills, doing her laundry, washing her dishes, cooking her meals, and I'll keep the cable TV on in her bedroom. I also, as this thread shows, stopped caring if she doesn't take care of herself. Because I can't control her, so why anguish over it.

She knows the line. When she crosses it... or if she goes crazy like she did before she moved in... she's going into that cheap nursing home that she can just barely afford, which is way suckier than the cush life she has here. She has been given the rope and she is fashioning the noose.
