Rogue Warrior

Post by Leisher »

Saw this for $1 or $.50 during the last Steam sale. Read the reviews and saw tons of positive ones with the same theme: "The game isn't great, but the dialogue and kill shots are amazing."

Sold.

I started it a few hours ago and have now completed it. The reviews weren't wrong about the cursing and kill shots.

This is an FPS, and like any, you get offered difficulty levels. The difference between this game and others is immediately apparent if you highlight "easy". "If you're a pussy, choose this one."

The story has your bad ass that looks way too long in the tooth fighting commies. That's right, the game is set in the cold war. He unleashed hell upon North Koreans and Russians along with a mouth that would make a sailor blush. Ever hear a game's main character call his enemies "cocksuckers"? You will here.

And those kill shots are brutal. Sometimes he will grab a guy and shove his knife in their throat. That will seem like mercy compared to the other ones. The worst is when he stabs them in the taint and then rib shots them multiple times leaving them to bleed out in agony.

The game itself is what it is... The FPS plays fine, but the AI is really dumb. You'll easily beat it in one session. The levels are all different, but kind of repetitive at the same time. They're all really linear too.

Still, it's worth buying and playing once at the same price point just for the laughs.

Is it based on Dick Marcinko?
