Apparently Snoke is some sort of balanced force user that uses both light and dark and has been watching how things have shaked out between the Sith and Jedi for awhile now, or something like that.
Balanced? My ass. His apprentice goes around killing entire villages.

Third viewing, I had time to stop and analyze during the film.
Once I confirmed Poe was Cuban, I can now observe that all the white guys in this movie were either the legacy guys that they couldn't exclude... Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill... or were bad guys. Of the two legacy guys, one got killed and the other had no lines. All other boxes were checked: the two heroes were a girl and a black guy, the person in charge of the army was a girl, and main pilot was hispanic.
The three main, evil-as-fuck villains were all white guys.
Loving this trend of pre-appeasement of the SJWs.

Bah. I'm not convinced Kylo Ren is a dude.

They aren't parallels. More like mashups. Look for Leia to talk Kylo back to the light and into pulling a Jenner so he can be the woman he is. Michelle Rodriguez would be a more masculine Kylo.

I went ahead and read the plot outline since I won't be seeing this until it's on free TV (or a bootleg copy) and I find myself agreeing with Malcolm. Not a lot of original here. secret plans on cute droid. A new protagonist on a planet where her dress and environment are so similar to Tatooine that everyone talked about the story returning to Tatooine when the trailers were released. Say what you will about Lucas, even while he stumbled in the story telling areas, he ALWAYS created a memorable and unique world every time he created a new one. Weathered old war veteran takes young potential jedi hero under his wing, only for said hero to see him cut down by the light saber of a Sith Lord.
"That's no moon". Actually, this time it's a planet. One with an eerily similar design flaw right there on the surface that they fly down the trench to exploit. Granted it isn't father and son this time. More likely to be first cousins. They even made the bad guy an angst ridden twerp again. At least they waited 5 movies in the first time to make the bad guy all emo.
Abrams just shuffled the same deck of cards and dealt them in a different order. He really is a hack.
