Equilibrium

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

2002 flick with Christian Bale.

Very much The Matrix meets 1984. Instead of thought crime, there is sense crime.... all emotion is banned, and suppressed with drugs. Going off your drugs is a crime with only one penalty: you get burned alive.

Good times.

I thought it was pretty well done, but the ending is sort of predictable... I wonder if I would have seen it coming in 2002, though. Don't know.

I was amused how in the movie the big thing that allowed them to create that totalitarian utopia was the wonderful invention of the "hate crime."

In a Fascist future where all forms of feeling are illegal, a man in charge of enforcing the law rises to overthrow the system.

I cannot conceive of how this movie ended up on my "to watch" list. I cannot conceive of who even thought making this movie was a good idea. I cannot conceive of how anyone gave this movie a good rating.

This is the worst movie I've seen in a long, long time.

I found this trivia:
Two different actresses played Preston's wife. The "condemnation archive footage" was filmed first, and featured Alexa Summer. However, when it was time to film the scene where she was arrested, she could not be found. Maria Pia Calzone had to take her place. As a result, there's two separate credits, Summer is credited as "Viviana Preston", while Maria Pia Calzone was credited as "Preston's Wife", even though they are supposed to be the same character

I can only imagine that Alexa Summer realized what an utter piece of shit this movie was, and didn't want to be associated with it any more.

The directory is AWFUL. The cinematography is AWFUL. Wow, it's like some movie school grad was given a camera and he has to show HOW. IMPACT. FUL. EVERY. SCENE. AND. MOVEMENT. IS.

IMDB

1.5/5 - And I'm not even sure where that 1.5 comes from.

The movie cost $20 million to make, and grossed $1.2 million domestic. Those people lost 2 hours of their lives to this piece of shit, and paid for it.

Ugh.

If by "kung fu gunfight" you mean "bullshit"

Seriously, people have to watch this movie. The whole premise of the cleric's fighting style is completely retarded. It's like a really shitty version of the Matrix.

Lots of people found it to be an interesting and thought-provoking movie, so your little statement is invalid.
