25 top horror baddies

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

The top three is probably the correct three, but they're absolutely in the wrong order.

I'd actually put them exactly opposite so #3 becomes #1 and #1 becomes #3.

If you restrict each "Big 3" series to "the good movies," then I say swap 2 & 3. Freddy is still tops.

4: Uh, no.
5: If you limit it to non-supernatural villains, this dude is up there.
6: Shit, yeah. Should be higher than 4.
7: Eh.
8: Should be higher up than 7.
9: I watched all seven of these last week. They fucking suck. There are covert gov't ops done with less precision and forethought than the supposed scenarios in these.
10: Did you see the last flick with this guy?
11: No. The Zuni fetish doll was better.
12: Should be way higher except the franchise carried on too long.
13: I'm torn on this one.
14: Bah, fuck the remake.
15: It's not 1930 anymore. No one cares.
16: Fucking retarded. One of the shittiest, laziest horror series ever written.
17: Lesser known, but ok.
18: Bill Mosley was scarier.
19: Old school and I approve. Aside from the dated and campy sets, this was a decent flick and deserves a proper remake.
20: Out of all the "new/recent" villains, I like this one the best. The character was wasted in 3 consecutive films.
21: Eh, horror/comedy, though the latest tries too much straight fright. Props for the best consecutive middle entries (4, 5, and 6) in any horror franchise. No, really.

Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein's monster, and all their ilk are more comical than anything at the moment. When was the last time you saw a vampire flick that rose above the level of "excrement?"

Gordon will argue for Twilight.

Frankenstein's been lame forever. Back in the day he might have been interesting, but a dim witted, slow moving, super strong green guy who isn't immune to damage is boring.

If it wasn't for the success of his films, I'd move Freddy even farther down the list. I never found him scary. Robert England does a great job with him, but aside from the first film, the rest were almost parody movies. The remake was dull.

IMHO, Michael Meyers has the best actual horror movie out of the entire list.

I disagree. The one in the book is interesting as hell. But that's over 100 years old. Aside from the first (maybe first two) Karloff films, he's been universally misused.

Robert England does a great job with him, but aside from the first film, the rest were almost parody movies.

That's why my "only the good ones" disclaimer came into play.

Also, if you want to talk about remakes that sucked, all three are guilty as sin.

Halloween: the first two are worth checking out. Then John Carpenter checked out of the series and it took a nosedive.
Friday the 13th: First and maybe the third. The latter is in there almost solely due to the hockey mask. This is easily the weakest of the 3 series.
Nightmare: Everything Wes Craven touched. First, third, and New Nightmare.

Grantland weighed in before they were shut down.

Michael is too far down the list, but it's a far better list overall.

Thought of this a couple days ago. List is missing the Thing from The Thing.

Wtf?

1) Except for the fucked up third entry, Pinhead is not a dude who goes around killing people wantonly. He shouldn't even be on the list. In that shit film, the body count is in the hundreds, easily. I guess it's on-screen kills.

2) Jigsaw is also bullshit and shouldn't be included, although I can't say why without spoiling several parts of that retard franchise.

3) In Freddy's Dead, it's implied that Freddy took out an entire town of children. He got damn near every kid in Springwood. That has to be hundreds certainly, if not thousands.

4) Jason really has over 300? In 13 films? Are you shitting me? He takes out an average of 23 annoying teens plus change every movie? No fucking way.
