4D Theaters

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Coming to a theater near you?

At Hollywood Studios in Disneyworld, they have a Little Mermaid 4D play that is amazing. Seriously, the Ursula will blow your mind. Anyway, the 4D effects are winds, bubbles, a mist of water, and the theater is decorated specifically for the show. It's cute, it's fun, but it's all geared specifically for that show in that theater and it still barely adds anything to the show.

Considering new movies get released constantly, how are they going to alter the effects enough to make repeat viewings new experiences? I see people doing it once, and then never returning.

Hell, I already know of a handful of people who will not see 3D films for various reasons.

You know what's probably not a great idea? Half of theater goers are women and they're always cold. Probably not smart to spray them with water and then blow cold air on them for two hours. (The Mermaid show is about 20 minutes and tolerable in Florida heat.)

From the comments... lol
Fuck this shit. I want to go into a movie chamber and have the film popped directly into my head, so I can bang the Scarlet Witch while everyone else battles Ultron.
It's not me, it's someone else.

3D movies look darker through the glasses, you typically only get a couple of moments where the 3D is used well, and it's all just a gimmick that isn't worth the extra $4. Wake me up, as they say, when we get holodecks so I too can go off and bang Scarlet Witch.

I typically agree, but the XD theater is too awesome to ignore just because it's in 3D.

And just FYI, it has been stated in multiple reviews that Ant-Man was the greatest 3D experience ever. I heard people saying that movie was "the one" worth the extra money.

Of course I heard all that after the fact or I would have objected to a normal screening.

Oh, and Gravity was amazing in 3D. My father-in-law actually got sick due to all the spinning and whatnot.
