One of the things I learned as I matured is that everyone is a dick at some point. Some spend more time in dick mode than others, but everyone is a dick.

It's how you accept that fact of life and how you then try to deal with it, both your own dick ways and the dick moods of others, that helps define your character. And frankly, how successful you are at getting things done.

You are not a bigger dick than you were in the past. So your wife or Cake or whomever sparked this poll is wrong on that point.

However...are you asking for honest opinions that you won't get mad at?

Just entering an introspective phase. I've noticed some strained relationships both on here and in the real world and I am smart enough to know that all of these things have the same common element: me.

I don't want to be a dick. I feel like I am becoming a dick. I feel like maybe I should practice some of that self control I am so famous for advocating, be less disagreeable.

I would say that you seem less tolerant of dumbasses than you used to be.

GORDO, you are a huge honking dick. But you are the same amount of dick you have always been. If someone who's known you awhile is ragging on you for being a dick they should already know you better than that.

And frankly it's because you are such a dick that I like you. If you were some nice white knight pansy instead you wouldn't be even 1/100th as fun to hang out with as you are.

I say you should wear your label with pride, sirrah! Let your dick flag fly!

I said not a dick.

After playing many games with you over the past few years I've seen you get moody, but you have never been a dick to me personally.

Yeah, but if the common you is reacting to the shared insanity of the world...

I don't want to be a dick. I feel like I am becoming a dick.

It's called getting older and having less patience for mistakes you've seen before. That behaviour is more acceptable in youth. Additionally, the experience you've gotten while living is accumulating more and more. Your brain draws on that vault subconsciously, along with any perceived lessons learned, in your daily life. Trying to fight that process directly won't change anything unless you're willing to suck up some neurosis or other psychological problem in exchange.

The only things I've really noticed about you is that you've lost a bit of your sense of humor and your ability to deal with static from those around you. It's caused you to kind of retreat into a shell and wave sticks at anyone who comes near.

TPR is right that you shouldn't be a pansy and just eat shit, but you can't be overly defensive about stuff either.

There isn't a person on this forum who hasn't pissed me off (some more than others) or impressed me with some act or their words. Except Stranger. Fuck that guy. (For real though, there's only been one lunatic here who was so hostile that they never said a single redeeming thing. They made Malcolm seem like Ghandi. Who was that? I can't remember.)

Swallow some of that pride and laugh some things off like you used to do all the time. You know who in your life is important to you, why, and they should get more slack for stupidity than you're currently offering. Exhibit A: Scooty. C'mon, we were young and immature at one point too. We're certainly not young anymore!

I think some of your family strife has probably worn you down over the years, and taken some of the away from you. Plus age. Oh, and marriage.

Basically, this is all your wife's fault.

Honestly, I thought that was a mating dance.

My bad.

Who was that? I can't remember.

Three candidates spring to mind. If you want me to utter the handles of those-who-need-not-be-named, I can PM the monikers.

Honestly, I thought that was a mating dance.

You wave sticks at people when you date them?

I think the biggest asshole to ever hit this site was pre-Malcolm. I think?

I think he was a far, far left liberal who knew Dictionary Dave and I in real life. More DD than me.

I predate all 3 of my candidates. I know to whom you refer.

One was... .Dahrma Bum? Just constant abuse.

There's another I can't think of...

BiteMe?

That's two out of three. Shit, I might even be confusing your board with VSCorner. Maybe the list is only two names long.

Dharma was preferable to biteme. That's like deciding which nut you want to be kicked in, but still.
