Hey Four Eyes
For the first time in my life I've been noticing vision problems. About 5 months ago I went to read the date on a dime and I couldn't focus.
Went to the eye doctor, he said my far vision was 20/15, but yeah, I need reading glasses.
I got some horn-rimmed ones because those are super sexy.
And I am wearing them today for the first time.... reading a manual for a new digital thermostat, going over to push small buttons on the thermostat... and they work really nice. But if I look at stuff more than 3 feet away and it is all blurry and I get dizzy. So I am taking these things off and putting them back on so much that I think I need one of those really cool granny chains to hang these things around my neck.
Just keeping y'all informed.

Yeah, it's two different things, basically.GORDON wrote:I asked if lasik would ever be an option for me... this is all new to me.... he said that people get laser eye surgery to get the vision I have right now. I guess it is to correct shit that looks fuzzy far away. My far away is perfect.
The other day my daughter tried to show me a splinter in her finger, by shoving it above 2" in front of my face, and I couldn't focus.
Right now, I can focus about 8" away from my face... so slowly moving to reading glass land.
It's not me, it's someone else.

It took 40 years, but your mother was finally right about that making you go blind...
I have trouble with stuff far away. Close up is no problem.

I'm getting to the point where cleaning the lenses every day is annoying. Jeebus forbid your hands are less clean than a surgeon's or those plastic things have any microscopic debris on them. Your eyeball will feel it.Leisher wrote:It took 40 years, but your mother was finally right about that making you go blind...For the first time in my life I've been noticing vision problems.

I'm near sighted. Have worn corrective lenses since 2nd grade. Now I'm getting so I can't see small print up close either. About ready for the glue factory I guess. When the pulse hits and my kindle stops working I won't read at bedtime anymore. That missing option of adjusting the font size on real books kind of sucks.

You still read ... like, physical books? With covers and pages and binding and shit? Books that take up variable storage space due to their lengths? How inconvenient.

I buy reference books in book format. If something were to happen it'd be rather stupid to have your "how to build a smoke house" instructions on the kindle with no place to charge it up.
But all my reading for entertainment purposes, I get on my Kindle.

Nah, just print up a "how to recharge your kindle after civilization collapses" pamphlet, then put the rest on the kindle. Better yet have a custom case made with those instructions printed on the back.
I've worn glasses since I was eight. I broke my main pair five years ago and my back-up pair two years ago, and my backup backup pair are starting to fall apart. Maybe it's time I finally went back in for another exam.

I considered that with a solar charger. But then I figured with my luck the best way to avoid an EMP is to prepare for it.TPRJones wrote:Nah, just print up a "how to recharge your kindle after civilization collapses" pamphlet, then put the rest on the kindle.
