A woman in her mid-late 20's (?) is a petty criminal, and she gets sentenced to 8 months house arrest at home with her parents... a house which also happens to be haunted. The movie changes direction at least twice before the end. You will not see it coming.
I will be honest.... this is one of the best "horror" movies I have seen in my life. Top 10, easy. It's clever, and it's a New Zealand flick so it is light-hearted, but it's not so heavy-handedly clever... see: Joss Whedon... that I bet even Malcolm would like it. yeah, I just said that.
This is one to watch right now.
Housebound - Yay! Netflix
I watched a movie earlier and this was one of the previews. It immediately hit my "To See" list.
Now it's moved up the queue.

“Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole.” - Dr Thomas Sowell
Watched it last night with the wife and we both enjoyed it.
Is it a horror movie though? I think it rides the genre line between horror and thriller/mystery. I guess at the end of the day it is a horror film, but it's one most people who don't like horror films could watch and not think it's a horror film.
The pacing is fantastic. It properly starts with character development at a slow pace leading into a quicker paced second act and a frenzy of a third act.
All the characters are excellent and fill the story perfectly. There's a plot device that gets revealed late, and at first it doesn't seem realistic, but once you think about the characters who live there, it seems plausible. I also love how you start off hating the protagonist, yet grow to root for her.
There is a lot of comedy, but nothing side splitting. It's mostly "charming comedy".
Definitely a must see. Don't come expecting tons of action and bodies though, this is a dialogue heavy movie that steers you into many directions before paying off.

That implies there are more chubby chasers out there than probably are...Malcolm wrote:Everyone too busy banging yours.Leisher wrote:Who hasn't?GORDON wrote:I'm starting to think Joss Whedon banged Malcolm's mom or something.
