An American remake of Let the Right One In. I predicted in that thread that the American director would miss the point of the movie, and I am pleased to be, generally, wrong.
They kept the same creepy, strange vibe of the original, and almost every important scene/plot point was kept faithful to the original.
Two major differences is that they are a lot less ambiguous about the identity of the vampire's human "companion," and they are more ambiguous by what the vampire meant by, "I'm not really a girl."
All in all, good movie.
I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of someone who hadn't seen the original. But not from Malcolm. Someone for whom there is a chance of liking it.

I watched Let Me In, and then Let the Right One In. I like Let Me In better. Obviously, they were very similar. But I think the story was told better in the remake. However, big props for the Russians using real snow and cold weather. There were a few scenes where you could tell the girl was freezing her ass off. Visibly shivering and stuff. Didn't detract from the story. Just sayin'. Watching the remake, I was thinking, "Well, that's obviously fake snow." With the original, I thought the opposite.
And I'm not convinced the girl has feelings for the boy or man as a friend or otherwise. He's a necessary part of her life. He's a tool. I think she was seducing him more than befriending him. She shows the old one compassion and throws him a bone with the goodbye. But really, I think she just saw him as a tool. An object that she needed to survive. Same with the boy. The current tool was getting old and wearing out. She needed a new one.
But anyway, very good movie.

On one hand, vampire flick with blood. On the other hand, I fucking hate "coming of age" films. They are the junior version of chick flicks. There's too much of the latter and not enough of the former in this one. Additionally, and I can't go into things too much without spoilers, but this is the stupidest fucking vampire in the world.
I don't, and I'm rather certain that's correct. She was an amoral, manipulative killing machine.
